  CPBC President Attends Opening

On Thursday 11th July 2013, CPBC was invited by Mayor Morris Mansour and the Councillors of Ashfield Council to the official opening of the beautiful new Town Hall and Youth Centre by her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO Governor of NSW.

What a night. It started with Mayor  Mansour addressing the packed audience with his usual relaxed and entertaining style, having most of us either smiling or laughing.

When Professor Marie Bashir was called to officially open the Centre and cut the ribbon, there was complete stillness in the room due to the respect that is given to an inspirational and beautiful women that Professor Marie is. Her speech was warm and endearing to the people of Ashfield and it touched her heart by knowing this area well.

Once the ribbon was cut, applause, photos and gifts were given by the Mayor to Prof. Bashir, and we were then entertained with “A Musical Review”  – a wonderful array of songs from various musicals, such as “Don’t rain on my parade” – Funny Girl, among many others. Congratulations, it was great!

It was also lovely to see one of my clients present. When I walked in, she said to her husband, “My hairdresser is here. I hope my hair looks ok.” which was quite funny. As a hairdresser, I always say the most important thing is a great hair cut. Incidentally my client’s hair looked great!

The new room can also be used for theatre and musicals such as “Hairspray – The Broadway Musical” by the Ashfield Musical Society. For those interested, they have performances at either 2pm or 8pm during November. Check with the Ashfield Musical Society for details.
