Behind the Scenes of Youth Committee’s Event

  • CPYCOn a brisk afternoon in April, the Croydon Park Youth Committee (CPYC) gathered in a local café to discuss what their first event as a Committee would be. And from there Movie Night 26.06.15 was born.

Over a span of seven weeks, the five members that make up the CPYC – Edward Frame, Marcella Gallace, Andrew Nguyen, Melinda Yeah, and Rocky Pang worked diligently and hard to see the event come to life.

Movie Night 26.06.15 saw 70 people flood through the doors to watch the animated movie, Despicable Me. Not only was entry and a cup of popcorn free but everyone who attended the event got a free raffle ticket for a $200 mystery prize.

Here is a sneak peek into the Behind the Scenes of creating Movie Night 26.06.15:

Croydon Park Youth Committee Hosts First Event

  • CPYC Image4Last Friday night, the Croydon Park Youth Committee (CPYC) hosted its first event as a Committee and welcomed a staggering 70 people to their Movie Night.

The CPYC is the first of its kind in the Croydon Park area, a board made up of only five members, the Committee worked on the event for more than seven weeks to see it blossom into what was a spectacular night.

The Committee also welcomed much hard work and enthusiasm from Croydon Park Business Chamber President, Toni Franze who mentored the group through their first event.

On the night, all ages were welcomed to the local Western Surburbs Australia Football Club in Croydon Park to watch the movie, Despicable Me. The event saw an array of adults, teenagers and children enjoy a night full of light heartiness and fun.

To launch the Committee in the area, the CPYC decided to hold the event for free, treating each guest to free popcorn and raffle ticket just for attending. In the end, one lucky attendee won a $200 Mystery prize, revealed on the night as a booklet of 10 Tickets to Hoyts Cinema.

The Committee dressed the room up in memorabilia from the Despicable Me movie, with many Minions in sight, including the entire Committee who dressed in theme. Lolly jar guessing games, raffle prizes and lolly bags kept guests on their toes as they joined in on the fun and excitement.

The night was a tremendous success for the Croydon Park Youth Committee, who are to be commended on their efforts as a new team.

The Committee welcomes anyone from the ages of 18 – 28 who are interested in joining the Committee or attending a meeting to contact the CPYC on: youthcommittee.cpbc@gmail.com.

Thankyou Night – Smash Hit!

  • Thankyou Night Photo

Almost two week ago on a chilly Friday night, over 70 guests braved the cold to attend the Croydon Park Business Chamber’s Volunteers Thank You Evening.

The event was hosted at Hair Collections, a local hair salon located in Croydon Park and welcomed volunteers and sponsors from the 2014 Croydon Park Festival to an evening of nibbles and wine as a thank you for their efforts from the festival. Each volunteer and sponsor was presented with a certificate of appreciation.

CPBC President, Toni Franze` made a speech on the night thanking all the volunteers and sponsors present and non-present for their hard work. She also welcomed the idea of a festival of the same calibre in the near future.

On the night, the Chamber launched the CPBC Youth Committee, the first ever youth committee for the Croydon Park area.

On Friday, 26 June, the Youth Committee will be hosting their first event – Movie Night at the Western Suburbs Australian Football Club in Croydon Park. The committee welcomes youth from the age of 17-onwards on the night to watch Despicable Me. You can contact the Youth Committee at youthcommittee.cpbc@gmail.com.

The CPBC would like to extend their thanks to Franze Events Management who organised the Volunteers Thank You Evening and to Daniela from Envylicious who sponsored the food for the evening, and put on a wonderful display of fresh home-made nibbles.
